This video was created by the Fire Equipment Manufacturers’ Association to train viewers to learn how to assess a potential fire situation and use a portable fire extinguisher in the event of a fire emergency.
If you are going to use a fire extinguisher in a real fire situation, then you must be comfortable and confident so that you can successfully extinguish the fire. Handheld portable fire extinguishers are approximately 96% effective at putting out fires before they get too large or out of control, and nearly all handheld extinguishers can be operated using the P.A.S.S. technique explained in the video.
